Brush the Teeth Properly
Brushing your teeth twice a day after meals with fluoride toothpaste can protect it from gum disease. Use a soft-bristled brush and replace it every two to three months. The angle should be at a 45-degree to the gums while brushing your teeth. Move the brush in short strokes. Make sure your toothbrush reaches every portion of your mouth.
Floss Before Sleeping
Before going to bed at night, floss your teeth properly. In the beginning, two to three times, you may experience bleeding, but don’t feel scared. It is normal. It happens. It will be great if you visit your dentist to know how to floss properly. They will let you know the correct flossing method. Performing it correctly will eliminate food and plaque trapped between your teeth and gums. Their removal is indispensable to avoid gum disease and gum disease treatment.
Rinse Your Mouth Properly
After having your meals, rinse your mouth properly. It will remove food particles and plaque that can lead to bacteria and cause gum disease.
Use A therapeutic Mouthwash
Two types of mouthwashes are available in the market – cosmetic and therapeutic. You can get both over the counter. But, you should select a therapeutic mouthwash because it benefits you in many ways. It removes food particles, reduces the plaque and tartar buildup speed, and prevents gum disease. However, before asking your child below six to use the mouthwash, meet your dentist and ask them if using the mouthwash will be safe for your child. If they say yes, then only give it to your child.
Say No to Tobacco
Smoking is a major cause of gum disease because it weakens your immune system. Taking tobacco in any other form also increases the risk of gum disease. So, start your efforts from today to quit tobacco as soon as possible.
Visit Your Dentist
Dental checkups will help you enjoy good oral health. If you visit a dentist every six months, they will examine your teeth and gums and recommend the best things to enjoy good oral health. If they find signs of gum disease, they will provide proper gum disease treatment for it and also tell you how you can avoid it in the future.
